After reading this article, I've been thinking about how coffee shops and cafés are where a remarkable amount of work is done in the modern economy. What's more, they play the role of a third space (or a 2⅓ place, if you're working), which the community values beyond the base business model.
I think businesses that lean into the evolving role of coffee shops are a very practical example of the kind of entrepreneurial effort that sits at a special intersection of motivations for entrepreneurs in the Flathead Valley: a viable business, positive integration into a community, opportunity for tie-ins with locally produced goods and services, and much-needed places for social activity and fulfillment.
